Monza is a stunning City, well known for it's racing circuit which attracts hundreds of thousands of people to the area in September for the Grand Prix. The Autodrome is the oldest of the F1 tracks still to be used and is set in the stunning grounds of Villa Reale, an amazing former Royal Palace with sweeping greenlands, a small lake and external Villa's in the park surrounding it, as well as a racing circuit?!

Ville Reale, Monza |
It's easy to walk to Villa Reale from the City centre as it sits near to the northern edge of the centre, but the circuit is a few miles beyond that point. There is a couple of bus services that run from Monza, up Viale Brianza near to the F1 circuit, but I would certainly recommend setting off early and walking through the park. There is a delightful stop off point half way through the park at a small cafe based next to the lake, which looks like something from a fairytale. A small castle style building which has lots of outside seating and could be in the middle of knowhere when your sat there, such is the quiteness and tranquility of the place (until you hear the roar of the F1 cars) Certainly worth a visit.
