Lombardy is a beautiful region of Italy which is easily reached by plane, trains or automobiles.
The capital of the Lombardy is Milan, attracting millions of visitors for it's shopping, fashion shows, design exabitions, all of which making it perfect for a great weekend break.
One thing a lot of people don't realise about Milan is it's proximity to the lakes which are overshadowed by the stunning Alps backdrop and can be seen from all over the city of Milan on clear days, (certainly worth a visit on a nice day).
Lombardy has some great places to visit in the region, with the likes of Como town not far away, Monza, Pavia, Varese, Brescia, Piacenza, Lecco and last but certainly not least Bergamo!
All of these places are easily connected to Milan, and can be accessed by train in an hour. My personal fave's are Bergamo, Monza and Lecco but Varese is definatly not far behind.
